Every question we answer, in one place.

Cost and pricing, where our helpers come from, how a placement runs, and how replacement works. Open any question to read the answer.

Two of these subjects have a page of their own: every figure is itemised on pricing, and the matching is explained step by step on find your helper.

Cost & Pricing

How much does it cost to hire a helper?

Our fly-in package costs $1,640.10 with 1 replacement within 6 months, or $1,140.10 without replacement.

The helper’s loan and placement fee sit outside those totals. You advance both at the start and recover them through the helper’s repayment, so they are ultimately the helper’s cost rather than an extra charge you carry — our team will walk you through the exact figures for your specific requirements. See our Pricing page for the full breakdown.

What is included in the fly-in package?

The fly-in package with replacement ($1,640.10) covers:

  • Agent fees — $888
  • MOM — $70
  • Insurance — $425.10
  • SIP — $77
  • Medical checkup — $60
  • Handling & transport — $120
  • 1 replacement within 6 months

The package without replacement is $1,140.10. The helper’s loan and placement fee sit outside both totals — you advance them at the start and recover them through the helper’s repayment, so they are ultimately the helper’s cost rather than an extra charge you carry.

What does the helper loan and placement fee mean?

These sit alongside the fly-in package, and they are ultimately the helper’s cost rather than yours.

The placement fee is fixed at one month’s salary. It is the same amount for a new helper and for a transfer helper. The loan is assessed case by case — it depends on the individual helper, so there is no standard figure we can publish.

As the employer you advance both amounts at the start, and you recover them through the helper’s repayment. The money leaves your account first, but it is not a cost you carry. Our team will go through the exact figures for the helper you choose.

Do you provide insurance?

Yes. DirectHired arranges the helper’s insurance as part of your placement, so it is not cover you have to go and source yourself.

There are two required policies, and the package buys both:

  • Medical insurance — in-patient care and day surgery, with an annual claim limit of at least $60,000.
  • Personal accident insurance — a sum assured of at least $60,000.

Both figures are the minimums the Ministry of Manpower requires of every employer of a migrant domestic worker. They are not limits DirectHired has set, and they are a floor rather than a description: what our policies pay above that floor, and on what conditions, are terms of the policy rather than of the package, and this answer does not set them out.

The insurance sits inside the fly-in package rather than beside it — it is one of the package’s own line items, and you can see what it costs on our Pricing page.

Helpers & Sources

What is the difference between a new helper and a transfer helper?

A new helper placement brings a helper into Singapore from overseas. A transfer helper is a domestic helper already working in Singapore who is moving to a new employer.

The difference describes the helper’s situation, not yours — a first-time employer can hire either. Both go through the same personalised matching process with our team.

Where do your helpers come from?

We currently work with helpers from Indonesia, Myanmar and Mizoram. The service is the same wherever a helper comes from — the same fly-in package, the same matching process. The source is the only difference. See our Helper Sources page.

Process & Timing

How does the matching process work?

Matching is a personalised, human process. Our team will:

  1. Understand your household needs — your routines, and the tasks, schedule and expectations a helper would take on
  2. Recommend suitable candidates based on what you have described
  3. Support you through interviews so you and the helper can decide together
  4. Stay involved to support the placement afterward

We take the time to understand your needs and recommend accordingly.

How long does the process take?

Once you have confirmed your helper, it takes approximately 2 weeks for a helper coming to Singapore from overseas, and approximately 1 week for a transfer helper who is already here.

Those timings run from confirmation onward. How long it takes to reach that point depends on your requirements and on the interviews — we would rather find the right person than rush you to a decision.

How do I submit my requirements?

Use the “Submit Your Requirements” button available on every page to tell us about your family and what you’re looking for, or message us directly on WhatsApp using the WhatsApp button alongside it. A consultant reviews every submission and aims to respond within 1 business day.

Do you arrange medical examinations?

Yes. The medical in your package is the helper’s pre-employment medical checkup, and DirectHired arranges it and coordinates it with the rest of your placement — one less step for you to organise.

It is a checkup, not insurance. The two are separate obligations that happen to sit next to each other in the fly-in package: this is a one-off examination before the helper starts work, while the insurance is cover that runs while the helper is here. Each is its own line item, priced separately on our Pricing page.

Do you handle direct-hire processing?

Yes. If you have already identified a helper independently, DirectHired can manage the processing required to formalise the arrangement, so you don’t have to navigate it alone. You have one point of contact throughout.

Every direct-hire situation is a little different, so tell us where things stand and our team will take you through what is involved.

How quickly will DirectHired respond?

We aim to respond within 1 business day, whether you send us your requirements through the form or message us on WhatsApp.

Replacement

What does the 6-month replacement mean?

Our fly-in package with replacement entitles you to one replacement helper, requested within 6 months of your helper’s deployment date — one replacement rather than an unlimited number, and 6 months from deployment rather than from the day you sign.

You do not need to justify the request. If the placement is not working for your household, you can ask for a replacement and we will start the process. The one exception is where the employer has breached the Employment Act or has abused the helper.

The package without replacement does not include it.

What is included in the replacement package?

When you request a replacement, the third-party components are paid again for the new helper:

  • MOM
  • Insurance
  • SIP
  • Medical checkup
  • Handling & transport

Our agent fee is not charged a second time. Those are the same components listed in the package breakdown.

If the helper being replaced still has an outstanding loan balance, that balance is subtracted from what you advance for the new helper — so you are not funding the same amount twice.

Still a question this page does not answer?

The answers above are the general ones. Send us your household’s requirements and a consultant will come back to you about yours.
